Octavia of the Julii

Background

Octavia of the Julli is a member of the Roman aristocracy. Her mother is Atia of the Julii and her brother is Gaius Octavian. She was married to Glabius, however her mother forced her to divorce him.


During the events of Rome: Season 1 Episode 1 The Stolen Eagle played by Kerry Condon

At Servilia of the Junii's dinner party Marcus Junius Brutus gets drunk and tells the crowd of Pompey Magnus, Octavia of the Julii and Glabius of his time in Gaul. After receiving a letter from Caesar, Atia asks Octavia how her marriage with Glabius is going and then tells her she must divorce him as she is to be married to Pompey. Later at a dinner party Atia offers Octavia to Pompey and lets him take his betrothal privileges early and he accepts. Pompey marries Cornelia and Atia vows revenge against Pompey.

Atia finds Octavia and Glabius together in her house and orders Glabius out. Octavia tells Atia she hates her and Atia slaps Octavia.

During the events of Rome: Season 1 Episode 3 An Owl in the Thornbrush played by Kerry Condon

A crowd of Pompeians gather outside the home of Atia. At her party, Atia blames Caesar to the crowd of Octavian, Octavia, Servilia and Marcus Junius Brutus. She tells them if Caesar was there she would stab him herself. Later Octavia sneaks out of the house and meets with Glabius at a hotel staffed by the blind. Days later Glabius' body arrives at the house of Atia and Octavia later demands to know if Atia had anything to do with Glabius' death. Atia lies and tells her she didn't.

Ocatvia asks Octavian if he knows if Atia had Glabius killed, and he tells her he doesn't think she did have him killed.

Atia finds Gaius painting Octavia's toenails, and later Octavia asks her mother and Merula why they are laughing and if it is because of some scheme they have hatched.

Octavia and Atia watch as Octavian gets swordplay training from Titus Pullo. Later a Female Merchant arrives at her home and Atia buys Octavia and herself a necklace. After Atia decides that Caesar and Mark Antony will be defeated by Pompey, she sends Octavia with gifts including a slave with a large penis and a golden tortoise to Servilia in order to curry favor with her. Servilia is at first cold to Octavia, but then apologizes and tells her she doesn't blame her for her mother's actions.

During the events of Rome: Season 1 Episode 7 Pharsalus played by Kerry Condon

Octavia is ordered by Atia to go to Servilia's home to ask her to send some of her men to guard Atia's home. Octavia is hesitant to go and when Servilia tells her she will do as Atia asks, Octavia cries and tells her she is too kind to her and her family. Octavia continues to spend time with Servilia and when Servilia breaks down crying after she is told Caesar has won the war and there is no word on Brutus, Octavia comforts her and kisses her. Their relationship continues and Octavia and Servilia eventually sleep together.

During the events of Rome: Season 1 Episode 9 Utica played by Kerry Condon

When Octavian arrives home from being away for two years, he is greeted by Octavia. While she and Servilia are weaving, Servilia asks Octavia to find out what affliction Caesar has. Later, Octavia goes to Octavian and asks him to tell her a secret, and he tells her about the time he and Titus Pullo tortured and killed Evander Pulchio who was cheating with Niobe. She tells Servilia Octavian's secret, but Servilia asks her to sleep with Octavian in order to get the information on Caesar. Octavia later invites Octavian into bed with her and they have sex and afterwards Octavian tells Octavia he knows she offered to have sex with him in order to find out about Caesar's affliction. When Atia finds out from Merula that he and Octavia had sex, she charges after Octavia with a whip. Octavia tells her Servilia told her Atia killed Glabius, and Atia lies and tells her she did not.

During the events of Rome: Season 1 Episode 10 Triumph played by Kerry Condon

Servilia flees to a monastery after Atia finds out she slept with Octavian under Servilia's behest. She has just finished committing self harm, when Octavian enters the monastery and tells her that he is there to take her home. Octavia resists, however Octavian demands that she come home to preserve the families' honor. She returns home and Atia tells her she is happy to see her. Her cut marks are covered with makeup before Caesar's Triumph and she sits with Atia next to Caesar.

At Atia's party, Mark Antony walks up to Octavia of the Julii asks her to put in a good word for him to Atia and she tells him that Atia is only faking that she is mad at him.

During the events of Rome: Season 1 Episode 12 Kalends of February played by Kerry Condon

Octavia and Atia attend an outdoor theater production depicting Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo's fight against the gladiators in the arena.

During the events of Rome: Season 2 Episode 1 Passover played by Kerry Condon

Octavian tells Octavia that she cannot tell anyone that they provided the information about Niobe's child to Servilia. Mark Antony arrives at Atia's home and tells her he is going north to raise an army. Atia tells him she is leaving with him and he and Timon escort Atia and her family to Calpurnia's home, who Mark Antony says they must pick up. Mark Antony and the others arrive at Calpurnia's home and Calpurnia demands that Caesar's will be read. Posca reads the will which includes freeing Posca, giving a sum of money to the people of Rome and giving his estate to Octavian. Octavian decides to stay and tells Mark Antony that there may be a way to force Brutus to come to a compromise and after hearing that she will be the mother of the richest man in Rome versus Servilia if Brutus compromises, Atia decides to stay.

During the events of Rome: Season 2 Episode 2 Son of Hades played by Kerry Condon

Octavian tells Octavia that he thinks Atia is planning on having Servilia assassinated after leaving Atia's party. Octavian tells Octavia that he plans on getting into politics and Octavia laughs at him.

During the events of Rome: Season 2 Episode 3 These Being the Words of Marcus Tullius Cicero played by Kerry Condon

Octavia is smoking marijuana with her friend Jocasta when Atia walks in and asks to smoke some and then insults Jocasta after asking her about Macedonia. Agrippa visits the home of Atia and speaks with Octavia and tells her Octavian is doing well.

During the events of Rome: Season 2 Episode 4 Testudo et Lepus (The Tortoise and the Hare) played by Kerry Condon

Octavia and Jocasta arrive at Octavia's home and hear screaming. They walk into another part of the house and see Duro being tortured by Timon and Saul, while Atia and Castor look on. Agrippa gives Octavia, Octavian's message and awkwardly expresses his feelings for Octavia, who avoids the issue. Octavia then hands the letter to Atia and tells her Octavian won the battle.

During the events of Rome: Season 2 Episode 5 Heroes of the Republic played by Kerry Condon

Octavia tells Atia that she is going to visit Octavian, but Atia refuses to go with her. Octavian gets upset when he feels that Octavia is taking Atia's side over him and tells Octavia that he shall reside in Caesar's palace. Atia returns home with Octavian and Octavia welcomes him home. While at an orgy, Agrippa sees Octavia with Jocasta. He then picks up a drugged Octavia and brings her home and tells Castor to wash her and put her into bed. Atia catches him leaving and Octavia tells Atia that Agrippa abducted her, but when Atia finds out Octavia was at an orgy she angrily yells at her and demands Agrippa not tell anyone.
