Delia

Background

Delia Deetz is a sculptor. She is married to Charles Deetz and is the step-mother of Lydia.

During the events of Beetlejuice (1988) played by Catherine O'Hara

Delia and her family move into the former house of Barbara and Adam. She and her interior decorator Otho begin planning how to redecorate the house. During a dinner party Delia holds for Otho, Beryl, her agent Bernard, and Grace, Barbara and Adam possess Delia and the other dinner guests and force them to dance while Delia sings. Instead of scaring them, Delia and her guests want Barbara and Adam to appear in front of them. Delia and Otho get the idea to use Adam and Barbara as entertainment for guests. During a dinner party for Maxie Dean and Sarah Dean, Otho uses the Handbook of the Recently Deceased to force Adam and Barbara to manifest in front of the dinner guests. Barbara and Adam start to fade and Lydia in desperation calls Betelgeuse' name three times. Delia and Charles watch as Betelgeuse tries to force Lydia to marry him. After Barbara saves Lydia, Delia decides to return the house back to the way it used to be decorated. She also has a cover article published in Art in America about her art.
