Gaius Maecenas
Background
Gaius Maecenas is a citizen of Rome. He is good friends with Gaius Octavian.
During the events of Rome: Season 2 Episode 4 Testudo et Lepus (The Tortoise and the Hare) played by Alex Wyndham
Octavian and Agrippa return to their command tent where they are greeted by Gaius Maecenas who tells them the other Roman generals died of their wounds.
During the events of Rome: Season 2 Episode 5 Heroes of the Republic played by Alex Wyndham
Gaius Maecenas agrees with Marcus Tullius Cicero that holding a Triumph for Octavian while his armies are outside of Rome might make the citizens uneasy. He goes to an orgy with Agrippa, but Agrippa leaves before the orgy starts. Later he witnesses as Cicero threatens Octavian and tells him that Marcus Junius Brutus and Cassius are on their way to Rome with their army.

Gaius Maecenas encourages the killing of rich Roman citizens in order to take their money to feed the army. He then joins Octavian and Agrippa on their march to battle against Brutus and Cassius.
During the events of Rome: Season 2 Episode 7 Death Mask played by Alex Wyndham
Posca approaches Gaius Maecenas and offers to trade information for money. Gaius Maecenas approaches a sad looking Agrippa at Octavia of the Julii and Mark Antony's wedding and tells him he feels sorry for Atia of the Julii, who he thought was only with Mark Antony for practical reasons and not that she loved him.

Gaius Maecenas points out Livia to Octavian. Maecenas then introduces Alfidia and Livia to Octavian. Octavian asks Livia if she would like to get married to him and she agrees after she divorces her husband. He then has a meeting with Posca where they discuss stealing a small amount from a gold shipment being brought to the Temple of Saturn by one of Lucius Vorenus' men. After the meeting where Lucius admits the gold shipment was stolen, Maecenas accuses Posca of double crossing him and stealing the gold. Maecenas tells Octavian that Mark Antony has been sleeping with Atia and Octavia has also been lying to Octavian.
