Detailed Synopsis
Max Rockatansky narrates that his world is fire and blood. Newscasters report on the oil wars which eventually lead to the water wars. Max then goes on to tell of his past as a cop searching for a righteous cause and how as the world fell everyone in their own way became broken.
Max is on a cliff next to his vehicle looking towards the vast desert when he starts hearing The Many Voices. He hears a noise and quickly drives away in his vehicle and a group of War Boys give chase. They overtake Max and Max eventually crashes his vehicle. As he is crawling out of his vehicle he has a vision of Glory The Child dying. Max narrates that he is reduced to a single instinct, survive. Max is brought to The Citadel where he is cleaned up and tattooed by The Organic Mechanic who tattoos Max's blood type on Max's back. As Max is about to be branded, he manages to get away. As he is attempting to escape he has visions of Glory The Child blaming him for her death. He also has visions of The Accusing Dead who blame him for their deaths. Max tries to escape by using a large hanging chain, but is eventually captured. Imperator Furiosa walks towards the War Rig as Immortan Joe is getting prepared for his speech. Chanting War Boy loudly chants a War Boy chant to the War Boys preparing the War Rig. The Ace tells the War Boys that they are heading to Gastown. The Wretched gather under Immortan Joe's cliff tower as the War Boys chant Immortan's Joe's name. Immortan Joe is helped to the opening of his cliff opening by Rictus Erectus, The Prime Imperator and a Imperator while Corpus Colossus looks on. The Prime Imperator tells The Wretched to yell and make noise for Immortan Joe. Immortan Joe tells the crowd that once again they send out his War Rig to return with gasoline and bullets. He then salutes Furiosa and his War Boys. He calls himself their redeemer and then releases water from three large pipes which pours down towards The Wretched who gather to collect it. The War Rig and convoy drive away and The Breakeman raises the main platform while The Winchman knocks members of The Wretched who try to climb onto the platform. The Organic Mechanic tells a War Boy to connect an IV tube to Max in order to transfer his blood to Nux. As Furiosa is driving towards Gastown, she suddenly changes course. Ace asks Furiosa where they are heading to and she tells him that they are heading east. Morsov asks Ace what is going on and Ace tells him they are heading east, but he doesn't know why. Milking Mother is having her milk extracted when Immortan Joe hands Rictus a bottle of human breast milk and Rictus takes a drink. Corpus calls to Immortan Joe and tells him that Furiosa has changed course. Immortan Joe runs to the vault where he keeps his wives and finds it empty with "our babies will not be warlords" written on the ground. Miss Giddy points a shotgun at Immortan Joe and tells him that the wives are not his property. Immortan Joe grabs the shotgun from Miss Giddy and then demands to know where Furiosa is taking his wives. Nux hears as the Drummers start banging on their drums. Nux asks Slit what is going on, but Slit walks on by. Blood 'Shed' War Boy says that Furiosa has gone rogue and betrayed Immortan Joe by stealing his wives. Slit grabs the steering wheel to Nux's vehicle and Nux and Slit start fighting over who gets to drive. The Organic Mechanic tells Nux he is too sick and is already a corpse, but Nux says he will bring Max (who now has a metal muzzle on his face) along with him to continue to drain blood from him. Nux headbutts Slit and says that if he is going to die, he is going to die historic on the Fury Road. The convoy to recover the wives begins its chase of Furiosa as the Drummers and The Doof Warrior play music. Max is chained to Nux and placed in the front of Nux’s vehicle. Nux is excited when he calls out to Immortan Joe and Immortan Joe looks in his direction. The War Rig War Boys notice flares being fired behind them asking for reinforcements from Gastown and The Bullet Farm and Ace asks Furiosa again what the mission is and she tells him that it is a detour. Furiosa's convoy is spotted by Buzzards who wonder what she is doing in their territory. Furiosa spots the Buzzards driving towards her and warns Ace, who warns the other War Boys. The first vehicle in the convoy falls into a trap and crashes. The Buzzards start attacking the convoy and a War Boy makes the first kill of a Buzzard vehicle. A Buzzard rig with an excavator bucket starts to chase Furiosa and the convoy. Nux catches up with Furiosa and Slit and Morsov help attack a Buzzard vehicle. The rider of the Buzzard vehicle shoots bolts into Morsov who then sprays himself with chrome spray paint, is witnessed by Ace, War Rig War Boy and the other War Boys and leaps towards the Buzzard vehicle with two lances causing the vehicle to explode. During the battle The Splendid Angharad tells Furiosa that they can't breathe in their hiding place and Furiosa tells her to get back to the hiding place. War Rig War Boy jumps onto the boom of the Buzzard vehicle with the excavator bucket and he and Slit help destroy the vehicle, but War Rig War Boy is in turn killed when the machine crashes. Furiosa drives towards a large sandstorm as Ace and the surviving War Boys including Chanting War Boy look at the incoming storm. Ace figures out that Furiosa has done something to betray Immortan Joe and attacks her. Furiosa knocks Ace away from her and then rams Nux's vehicle causing one of its tires to blow. Furiosa drives into the sandstorm and her convoy follows her, causing them all to die. Max knocks Slit off of the vehicle and Nux follows Furiosa into the sandstorm. Max watches as Nux opens the fuel lines in preparation to ram the vehicle into the War Rig and manages to grab a flare from Nux before the vehicle is rammed by Furiosa. Max wakes up and finds himself still chained to an unconscious Nux. He grabs a shotgun and attempts to blow off Nux's arm, but the shell hang-fires. Max then starts to chew on Nux's finger, but hears Immortan Joe's convoy and grabs Nux. He carries Nux to where Furiosa is cleaning the sand from the War Rig and sees Angharad, Toast the Knowing, Capable, The Dag, and Cheedo The Fragile washing themselves. He tells Angharad to bring him the water hose which he then drinks from and tells The Dag to bring him the bolt cutters. The Dag walks over to Max carrying the bolt cutters and sees Immortan Joe’s forces driving towards them. She struggles to cut the chain and while Max is distracted, Furiosa charges at him and they begin to fight. While they are fighting the wives help Furiosa while Nux helps Max. In the end, Max manages to get a hold of a pistol Furiosa had hidden on the War Rig and threatens Furiosa with it. Nux tells Max that Immortan Joe is going to be grateful to him for bringing back his wives and Max tells him to cut the chains chaining them together. Nux says that he is going to ask Immortan Joe to drive the War Rig and Max takes his jacket back from Nux. Angharad says that they are going to the Green Place and starts walking towards the War Rig and Max punches Nux in the gut and then shoots towards Angharad and nicks her leg with a round. He gets into the War Rig and starts to drive off. Furiosa tells the wives to pick up anything they can and follow her as they run after the War Rig. As Max is driving the War Rig it starts to stall. Furiosa runs up to Max and tells him that she installed kill switches inside the War Rig. He tells her that she can come, but only her and when Furiosa says that her and the wives go together, he threatens to wait for Immortan Joe. She tries to reason with Max and manages to convince him when she offers to help him remove the metal muzzle from his face. As they are driving away, Nux manages to jump onto the War Rig. Max collects the rest of the hidden weapons and as Furiosa starts to drive towards a cliff opening, Max tells her to drive around, but Furiosa points out that The People Eater and his troops are heading their way from another direction. Angharad and Capable use binoculars and a splyglass and see that The People Eater’s forces consist of big rigs, polecats and flamers. The vehicle starts to stutter and Furiosa says the fuel pod maybe causing it to drag and Max goes to investigate. As Max is reconnecting the fuel pod line to the War Rig, Nux is sneaking under the War Rig towards the semi-truck. As Max is walking back towards the semi he finally manages to file through the metal muzzle. Nux uses the secret compartment to climb into the semi and starts to choke Furiosa with a chain, but the wives help Furiosa and Furiosa pulls out the stick shift knob dagger and puts it to Nux’s throat. Furiosa is about to kill Nux, but Angharad stops her. Max gets back to the cab and tells Furiosa that another group is following them and Furiosa says it is The Bullet Farmer. The wives throw Nux out of the vehicle after telling him that he has been fooled by Immortan Joe. Furiosa drives into a series of canyons and Furiosa tells Max and the wives that she made a deal for safe passage. She tells the wives to get back into the hold of the trailer and tells Max then when she yells, then he is try the War Rig away and how to disengage the kill switch. The War Rig comes to a stop and Furiosa gets out and yells out that she has the three thousand gallons of gasoline as promised. A group of Rock Riders and The Rock Rider Chief appear on a cliff and The Rock Rider Chief yells at Furiosa for large war parties chasing after her. Immortan Joe and his war party start to enter the canyons and Furiosa yells out for Max to start driving. The Rock Riders start attacking the War Rig and detonate bombs that cause a large rockslide blocking Immortan Joe's war party.
