While looking for a gift for his son [[Billy Gremlins|Billy]], in Chinatown, [[Rand Peltzer]] offers to buy Gizmo from Grandfather. Grandfather tells Rand no, but [[Chinese Boy]] tells Rand to wait outside and then sells Gizmo to him. Rand goes home and has Billy open his present early and from then on Gizmo stays close to Billy's side. While Billy is showing Gizmo to [[Pete]], Pete accidentally knocks over a glass of water onto Gizmo and five new Mogwai pop out of his back. The new Mogwai are led by [[Stripe]] who picks on Gizmo. When the Mogwai turn into Gremlins, they use him for dart practice and then throw him down the laundry chute. Billy comes home and puts Gizmo in a bag and chases after Stripe, but Stripe manages to jump into a pool at the local Y.M.C.A. Billy and Gizmo then go to the local sheriff station where Billy shows [[Sheriff Frank]] and [[Deputy Brent]], Gizmo. Gizmo then goes with Billy to [[Dorry]]'s Tavern where they join up with [[Kate Gremlins|Kate]]. They find all of the Gremlins in the local theater watching Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Billy, Kate and Gizmo blow up the theater but see Stripe in the candy store. The three follow Stripe into the mall and Gizmo goes with Kate to look for a control panel to turn on the mall lights. He leaves when she is preoccupied with the lights and finds a Barbie car which he gets into and drives. He imagines himself as [[Clark Gable]] in the film [[To Please a Lady]] while he is zooming around on his way to help Billy. He finds Billy and Stripe in the garden area and Stripe using a fountain to try and make more Mogwai. Gizmo crashes his car and then pulls a chain allowing light to pour into the room and causing Stripe to melt into a puddle of goop. Gizmo goes home with Billy where he stays until Grandfather comes and takes him back. Before leaving Gizmo tells Billy goodbye and then he leaves with Grandfather. | |||
