The Refinery Settlers
Background
The Refinery Settlers are a group of thirty people who have settled at a working oil refinery in the wasteland of Australia. Their leader is Pappagallo.
During the events of The Road Warrior (1981)
The Humungus' Gang shows up and starts harassing The Refinery Settlers. After a few days of attacking they leave but then chase down a group of Settlers that were sent to look for a semi. Max manages to bring Nathan back and after another attack by The Humungus' Gang makes a deal to find a semi to take out their tanker full of gasoline. He is successful and the majority of The Refinery Settlers sneak out of the refinery carrying the fuel in their vehicles while Max and Pappagallo act as decoys. The Refinery Settlers eventually settle in the Sunshine Coast where their new leader is The Gyro Captain, until The Feral Kid takes over and they become the Great Northern Tribe.
