Cartwright
Background
Cartwright is a maintenance worker at the Boston Cryonics Lab. He is married to Abby.
During the events of Air (2015) played by Djimon Hounsou
Cartwright along with Bauer are woken up to do routine maintenance on the facility for two hours. While they are finishing their work, an electrical fire caused by structural damage from an earthquake leads to Cartwright's cryonic sleep chamber to catch fire. After finding replacement parts in a sealed off area, they install them in Cartwright's sleep chamber. Cartwright is hesitant to test the sleep chamber and so Bauer offers to get inside while Cartwright does a diagnostic test. The sleep chamber fails and Bauer starts to choke from the plastic hood collapsing on his face. He calls out to Cartwright and after he passes out, he is freed by Cartwright. Bauer wants to pull out a sleeper so Cartwright can use it, but after Cartwright refuses, Cartwright decides he is going to try to find a part in another facility that is supposedly nearby. While Cartwright is at the other facility, he discovers that everyone in the other facility is dead and the system tells them others are online so they don't feel lonely and go crazy. When Cartwright returns, Bauer tells him he saw him watch as he was suffocating and threatens him with a gun he pulled off of the corpse of a dead soldier. Cartwright is about to give up, but an image of Abby, who he has been having conversations with during the time he was woken up, shows him how to get back into the facility and he sneaks back inside. Cartwright is shot by Bauer and begs Bauer to listen to him and pulls out a photo of Abby before running away again. Bauer grabs the photo and after figuring out Cartwright is married to one of the sleepers, he goes into the sleeping chamber and threatens to shoot Abby. Cartwright attacks Bauer and injects him with a fatal dose of morphine and Bauer lays down and dies. Cartwright then gets into Bauer's sleeping chamber and goes back to sleep. A long time passes when the system registers that the air quality outside is safe once more. Cartwright wakes up along with the sleepers including Abby and a much older looking Cartwright and Abby embrace and Cartwright starts to cry.
