Background

Grandfather has a shop in Chinatown. His grandson is Chinese Boy.

During the events of Gremlins (1984) played by Keye Luke

Rand Peltzer is brought to Grandfather's store by Chinese Boy. Rand looks around the store and tries to sell Grandfather a Bathroom Buddy but when he finds Gizmo, he offers to buy him. Grandfather tells Rand that Gizmo is not for sale and walks off. Later Grandfather goes to the Peltzer residence to retrieve Gizmo. He scolds Rand for all the destruction that he allowed to happen, but lets Gizmo tells Billy Peltzer goodbye. Grandfather tells Billy that someday he may be ready for the responsibility of owning Gizmo and that Gizmo will be waiting for him. He then walks off with Gizmo.
