Detailed Synopsis
In Leadville, Colorado, Trevor Bowman, Nina (Day of the Dead)|Nina, Local Girl and Kyle (Day of the Dead)|Kyle are hanging out in an abandoned building complex. Kyle starts coughing and sneezes out blood. He and Local Girl continue to kiss Trevor and Nina go exploring the complex. Meanwhile, there is a military roadblock prohibiting traffic in and out of the town. Young Man tells a soldier he and his date have reservations at a restaurant. Mr. Leitner argues with Captain Rhodes, who tells him his orders are to maintain the roadblock for the next 24 hours. Mr. Leitner tells Rhodes that he wants to take his sick son to a hospital out of town and continues to argue with Rhodes. Mrs. Leitner tries to calm Mr. Leitner down and Mr. Leitner threatens to drive through the roadblock. Sarah Bowman walks over to Mrs. Leitner and says hello and Mr. Leitner tells her that their son is really sick and she convinces him to drive his son to the local medical center. Nina convinces Trevor to take her to his house since Francine Bowman is sick with the flu and will be in bed. Trevor tells Kyle that they are leaving and Kyle starts to bleed from his nose on Local Girl. Local Girl says she is going home and Kyle offers her money to go back to his house. Paul (DJ) tells his listeners that Route 40 will be closed until tomorrow night. As Local Girl is walking in the woods, she is chased down by a ? Zombie, and eaten. Salazar (Day of the Dead)|Salazer arrives with Bud Crain and Soldier (Day of the Dead)|Soldier to the roadblock. They introduce themselves to Sarah. Sarah puts Salazar and the other Soldier on guard duty, while she and Crain take a humvee to Francine's house. Crain calls Leadville a shithole and Sarah tells him that she grew up there. Sarah walks into the house and finds Trevor and Nina having sex. She goes upstairs and asks Francine how she is feeling. Nina tells Trevor that her father left her a dozen messages on her phone and he is at the hospital. She then tells Sarah that Kyle was really sick. Sarah and Crain drive to Kyle's house and find it a mess with blood everywhere. They find Kyle's parents' bodies, which appear to be eaten and when Sarah tries to make a phone call, the service is down. She uses her Humvee radio to contact Rhodes and he tells her that all the phone lines are being blocked. Crain asks Sarah why her pistol isn't loaded and then tells her that he is a vegetarian. They pick up Trevor, Nina and Francine and drive them to the hospital. Francine's nose starts to bleed and when Sarah and the others get to the hospital, it is full of sick people. Sarah goes up to the Receptionist (Day of the Dead)|Receptionist and tells her that Francine needs a doctor and the Receptionist hands her a notepad and tells her to write her name on the list. Sarah pressures Young Punk, who is there with Young Punkgirl to give up his seat in the waiting room. Nina tells Trevor that she found where her parents are at and they go to their hospital room. Salazar walks into the hospital and he tells Sarah that he came with Rhodes. Rhodes calls Sarah over and tells her Doctor Logan wants to talk with her about the bodies at Kyle's house. As Crain is talking to Francine, he notices she and a large amount of sick people have started to go catatonic. Doctor Logan tells a hospital doctor that its an airborne virus. He asks Sarah questions about the bodies at Kyle's house and if they looked like they had been bitten. Mr. Noble tells Nina he might have the avian flu. He goes catatonic and then suddenly attacks Mrs. Noble and bites her in the face. Two electric company employees attack another and during the attack, the power goes out when they blow up a transformer. Paul hears a scream and he and the soldier with him look outside and see people being attacked. Sheriff Carver and Nervous Deputy go to Kyle's house and are attacked and killed by Kyle Zombie. The soldier with Paul goes outside to investigate and is killed by Zombies. Trevor and Nina are attacked by Zombies and escape into the woods. Rhodes is attacked by Zombies and partially eaten. While in the woods, Nina and Trevor come across a dying Man in Woods. They run to the radio station and Paul lets them in. Mrs. Leitner and Mrs. Leitner are also at the radio station and Mr. Leitner tells Nina that Cody is dead. Mrs. Leitner starts coughing, but insists she isn't sick and Paul also starts coughing. Sarah and Crain use the air ducts to travel back to where Rhodes' body is in order to get the keys to his humvee. They find Salazar and Salazar takes Rhodes' pistol, while Sarah gets his keys. Rhodes reanimates and attacks Sarah, but she is able to get away. As Crain is putting the vent back, Rhodes Zombie bites him and Salazar shoots Rhodes Zombie. Salazar wants to shoot Crain, but Sarah convinces him not to. Trevor uses the radio to ask for help. While they are running to the humvee, Doctor Logan leaves the others and shoves a woman towards a Zombie. Sarah. Crain and Salazar make it to the humvee and drive away. Nina notices a bloody tissue in the trash and grabs a letter opener. Sarah and Salazar go to the gun store and grab weapons and ammunition and Craine starts bleeding from his nose. Paul becomes a Zombie and Nina stabs him in the head with the letter opener. When Sarah and Salazar get back to the humvee, Crain has transformed into a Zombie. She hears Trevor asking for help. Trevor sees Francine and as Francine is about to attack him, Sarah runs her over with the humvee. As Nina goes to tell Mr. Leitner and Mrs. Leitner that it is time to leave, she finds the chewed on remains of Mr. Leitner. Mrs. Leitner attacks her and Trevor helps her push Mrs. Leitner out the window. Everyone gets in the humvee and they drive to the roadblock. They are attacked by the Soldier and other Soldiers, who are now all Zombies. They drive away and as they are driving, Kyle Zombie jumps onto the humvee. Sarah crashes the humvee and then shoots Kyle Zombie dead. They decide to head towards the old Nike plant.
