Background
Jake Potter works on the fishing trawler Golden Gate in Noyo, California. His son is Jerry Potter.
During the events of Humanoids from the Deep (1980) played by Bruce Monette
Jake, Hank Slattery, Dickie Moore and Slattery's Crewman are walking to their boat when they see all the dock dogs dead except for Johnny Eagle's dog. At the 75th Annual Noyo Salmon Festival, Johnny carries in his dead dog and accuses Hank of killing it and Hank, Dickie, Jake and Hank's Crewman get in a fight with Johnny, Jim Hill and Tommy Hill. The next day, Hank tells Jake, Dickie and his crewman that they need to take care of Johnny one way or the other. When Jerry and Peggy Larsen go missing, Jake and Peggy's father go looking for them. Jake returns without finding Jerry and is grabbed and pulled under water at the beginning of the Humanoids' attack on the people on the pier.
