Background
Harry Potter is a resident of 4 Privet Drive, Little Whinging, Surrey. His parents were Lily Potter and James Potter, but after they died he moved in with Aunt Petunia Dursley and Uncle Vernon Dursley. Dudley Dursley is his cousin and Aunt Marge is his aunt.
During the events of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) played by Daniel Radcliffe and the Saunders Triplets
Albus Dumbledore uses his delluminator to capture the light from the streetlamps on Privet Drive. Professor McGonagall transforms from a cat and shortly after, Hagrid arrives on his flying motorcycle and hands Harry to Dumbledore and he leaves a note to Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon. Ten years later, Aunt Petunia bangs on the door of the cupboard under the stairs where Harry is kept and tells him to wake up. Dudley runs down the stairs but stops to repeatedly jump up and down on the stairs above where Harry is kept. Harry walks into the kitchen and Aunt Petunia tells Harry to cook breakfast without burning anything. Dudley counts his birthday presents and starts yelling when he notices there is one less than the year before. Before going to the zoo, Uncle Vernon warns Harry not to act up or he will not eat for a week. After Dudley bangs on the glass of the Burmese python exhibit, Harry apologizes to it and notices it seems to understand him as he talks. Dudley sees the snake moving and shoves Harry aside and Harry makes the glass disappear. Dudley falls into the snake exhibit and the Burmese python tells Harry thanks as it slithers away. The glass reappears and Uncle Vernon sees Harry laughing. A Hogwarts owl drops off a piece of mail addressed to Harry. Dudley sees Harry looking at his letter and takes it from him and gives it to Uncle Vernon who keeps it when he notices it is from Hogwarts. Day after day, more letters arrive from Hogwarts, which Uncle Vernon continues to rip up or burn. On Sunday, the Dursley house is flooded with letters from Hogwarts and Uncle Vernon decides they are going to leave. They go to a remote shack to live and on Harry's 11th birthday, Hagrid shows up and gives Harry a birthday cake. Hagrid introduces himself to Harry and tells Harry he is a wizard, before handing Harry his acceptance letter from Hogwarts. Uncle Vernon tells Hagrid, Harry will not be going to Hogwarts and Aunt Petunia insults Harry's mother Lily. Uncle Vernon insults Dumbledore and Hagrid makes Dudley grow a pig tail when he sees Dudley eating Harry's birthday cake. Hagrid and Harry then leave and go to London.
Hagrid and Harry go into the Leaky Cauldron and Hagrid introduces Harry to the Bartender in Leaky Cauldron and Professor Quirrell. They leave through the back of the Leaky Cauldron and Hagrid taps the brick wall with his umbrella and after the bricks form a door, they enter Diagon Alley. While they walk past a store, Harry hears Diagon Alley Boy get excited about seeing the new Nimbus 2000. They go to Gringotts Bank and Hagrid tells Goblin Bank Teller that Harry wishes to withdraw some money. Hagrid hands the Goblin Bank Teller Harry's key and a top secret letter from Dumbledore addressed to The Head Goblin in charge of all Goblins at Gringotts Bank. Griphook takes Harry and Hagrid to Harry's vault and then they go to vault 713 and Hagrid picks up something bundled in cloth. They travel to Ollivanders and Mr Ollivander helps Harry find the right wand for him. He tells Harry that the wand used by "He Who Must Not Be Named" carried a phoenix feather from the phoenix that shared a feather with the wand that chose Harry. Hagrid knocks on the store window and shows Harry his birthday present, Hedwig. Hagrid tells Harry the story of Voldemort and how Harry's parents Lily Potter and James Potter stood up to Voldemort, but were eventually killed by him. Hagrid tells Harry he has to leave and hands him a ticket from London to Hogwarts by way of Platform 9 3/4. Harry asks Station Guard where Platform 9 3/4 is, but the Station Guard thinks Harry is joking and walks off. Harry hears Mrs Weasley complain about Muggles and he follows her, Ginny Weasley, Percy Weasley, Fred Weasley, George Weasley and Ron Weasley to Platform 9 3/4. Percy goes first, followed by Fred and George. Harry asks Mrs Weasley for help and she explains how to disappear into the wall and come out at the proper platform and Ginny wishes him luck.
Harry gets onto Hogwarts Express and shares a sleeper car with Ron. A Dimpled Woman on Train asks Harry and Ron if they want anything from the food trolley and when Harry notices Ron brought food, he buys everything from the trolley. Ron introduces Harry to Scabbers and before he is about to show Harry a spell, Hermione Granger asks them if they have seen Neville Longbottom's toad, Trevor. After Ron fails at a spell, Hermione uses a spell to fix Harry's broken glasses. They arrive at the station along with Seamus Finnegan and take boats to Hogwarts. Professor McGonagall tells the first year students that they must go through the process of being sorted into their respective houses and she explains the points system and the house that wins the most points will win the house cup. Neville finds Trevor and Draco Malfoy makes a comment about Harry, which causes the other students to exclaim and Draco introduces Harry to Crabbe and Goyle. When Ron snickers at Draco, Draco insults Ron and tells Harry some wizarding families are better than others. The first year students are brought into the Great Hall and brought to The Sorting Hat. Dumbledore tells the first year students the rules including that the Dark Forest is off limits. The first to get sorted into their house is Hermione, then Draco, Susan Bones, Ron, and Harry. While The Sorting Hat is on Harry, Harry asks it to not put him in Slytherin House and he is placed with Griffindor House.
During dinner, Harry asks Percy who Professor Snape is after Harry had earlier seen Snape staring at him. Nearly Headless Nick introduces himself to the new students and The Grey Lady, The Bloody Baron, and Fat Friar float around the students. Percy gives the password to the Fat Lady and Percy takes the first year students into the Gryfffindor common room. The next morning, Harry and Ron are late to Professor McGonagall's class. Snape introduces his class and points out that fame doesn't equal ability. Mail comes and Dean Thomas tells everyone Neville got a Remembrall. Harry reads The Daily Prophet that Ron received and sees that there was a break in at Gringotts in the same vault he and Hagrid went to. Later, Madame Hooch teaches the students how to ride their broomsticks. Neville loses control of his broomstick and eventually falls and breaks his wrist. While Madame Hooch is taking Neville to the hospital, Draco steal Neville's Remembrall. Harry flies after Draco and catches the Remembrall when Draco throws it into the air. Professor McGonagall sees Harry flying and takes him with her and introduces Harry to Oliver Wood and Harry is made the new Gryffindor Quidditch Seeker. Hermione shows Harry the trophy case and he sees that his father won a Quidditch award in 1972 as a Seeker. The staircase moves as Harry, Hermione and Ron are walking up it and as they go to leave a room they aren't supposed to be, they see Mrs Norris and run away. They enter a locked room and come face to face with Fluffy who chases them out of the room. Hermione later figures out that Fluffy was guarding something.
Oliver explains the rules of Quidditch to Harry and shows him the Golden Snitch. Professor Flitwick teaches the students about the making of charm spells that can make things fly. After class, Ron is making fun of the way Hermione corrected him and she hears him and runs away. At Halloween dinner, Neville tells Harry that Hermione was crying in the bathroom. Professor Quirrell runs into the Great Hall and yells there is a Troll in the dungeon. As they are walking back to the Gryffindor common room, Harry and Ron decide to leave and tell Hermione of the danger. They see the Troll go into the girl's bathroom. Hermione walks out of a stall and the Troll swings his club at her. Harry and Ron start throwing pieces of the destroyed stalls at the Troll and Ron eventually knocks the Troll out when he causes the Troll's club to levitate and then fall on the Troll's head. Professor McGonagall, Snape and Professor Quirrell run into the bathroom and Hermione takes the blame and Gryffindor loses five points, but gains ten for Harry and Ron's bravery. Harry notices that Snape has a limp and thinks Snape was trying to get whatever Fluffy is guarding. An owl drops a package for Harry and it turns out to be a Nimbus 2000. The Quidditch games starts with Oliver Wood, Harry, Katie Bell, Fred, George, Angelina Johnson and Alicia Spinnet on the Gryffindor team and Adrian Pucey, Marcus Flint and Terrence Higgs on the Slytherin team, while Lee Jordan is the announcer for the game. Angelina Johnson scores the first points, followed by Katie Bell. Marcus Flint takes the Beater club and knocks Oliver Wood unconscious with the Bludger and Slytherin starts to come back into the game. As Harry starts to go after the Snitch, his broom starts to act on its own. Hermione sees Snape mouthing spells and she starts a fire under Snape, who bumps into a professor who bumps into Professor Quirrell. Harry is able to regain control of his broom and catches the Snitch in his mouth and wins the game for Gryffindor.
Harry, Hermione and Ron tell Hagrid they think Snape was trying to curse Harry and tell him they think he is trying to steal whatever is hidden in the room with Fluffy, but Hagrid tells them not to meddle in places they don't belong and accidentally mentions the name Nicholas Flamel. Harry and Ron are playing Wizard's Chess when Hermione comes up to them and suggests they look in the restricted section of the library for information on Nicholas Flamel. On Christmas Day, Harry gets Christmas presents for the first time in his life including the Invisibility Cloak. Harry uses the cloak to go into the restricted area of the library and is almost caught by Mr Filch. As he is trying to get away, Harry sees Snape confront Professor Quirrell about his loyalty. Mr Filch shows Snape and Professor Quirrell the lantern he found in the restricted section. As Harry is walking back to his room he comes across the Mirror of Erised which shows him images of his dead parents. Harry runs to Ron and shows him the mirror which shows Ron holding the Quidditch cup as Quidditch Captain. Harry spends the next few nights sitting in front of the mirror until Dumbledore catches him and warns him about the effects of the Mirror of Erised. After Christmas break, Hermione finds a book that mentions Nicholas Flamel was the maker of the Sorceror's Stone which can turn metal into stone and produce the Elixir of Life. They go to Hagrid's hut and tell him they know about the Sorceror's Stone. They tell him they think Snape is trying to steal the stone, but Hagrid tells them he is one of the professors protecting it. As they are talking to Hagrid, Fang starts sniffing Ron's face. Hagrid pulls out a dragon egg, which hatches into a Norwegian Ridgeback dragon, which Hagrid names Norbert. As they are walking back to the Gryffindor common room, they are stopped by Professor McGonagall who deducts points from both Gryffindor and Slytherin for Harry, Ron, Hermione and Draco, who tattled on them to Professor McGonagall, for being out past curfew and they are each given detention.
For detention they are brought by Mr Filch to help Hagrid in the Dark Forest. Hagrid tells them Dumbledore made him send Norbert to Romania. They follow Hagrid and Fang into the forest and find unicorn blood and Hagrid tells them he found one dead a few weeks ago and their goal is to find the wounded unicorn. They split up and Harry and Draco go with Fang. They come across a robed figure hunched over the wounded unicorn and Fang and Draco run away, leaving Harry. As the robed figure glides towards Harry, Harry is saved by Firenze who warns Harry the Dark Forest isn't safe. Firenze tells Harry, the robed figure was Voldemort and the Sorcerer's Stone is in Hogwarts. Harry tells Hermione and Ron about Voldemort and that Snape doesn't want the Sorcerer's Stone for himself, but for Voldemort. Harry's scar starts to hurt and he figures out Hagrid must have told someone how to get past Fluffy, and Hagrid reveals the trick to get past Fluffy. Harry, Hermione and Ron run to Professor McGonagall and tell her they have to speak to Dumbledore about the Sorcerer's Stone, but she tells them Dumbledore is gone. They decide to go to the trapdoor under Fluffy that night. As they are trying to sneak out, Neville stops them and Hermione uses a freeze spell on him.
They go to the room with the trapdoor and find Fluffy asleep. As they are about to go into the trapdoor, Fluffy wakes up when the harp used to keep it asleep stops and they are forced to jump down the trapdoor. They land on Devil's Snare and when Ron has trouble relaxing enough to slip through it, Hermione uses a light spell to free him. They walk into a room filled with winged keys and Harry uses a broom to catch the key to the next room as the other keys chase him. In the next room is a large chessboard, which mimics Wizard's Chess. They take different positions on the board as Ron coordinates their and their respective chess pieces movements. Ron sacrifices himself in order to win the game and Hermione stays behind with an injured Ron and to send a message to Dumbledore while Harry continues on. Harry enters the last room and finds Professor Quirrell staring at the Mirror of Erised. Professor Quirrell tells Harry Snape was actually trying to save him during the Quidditch match and Snape knew he was up to something. Professor Quirrell wonders how to get the Sorcerer's Stone and a voice suggests he use Harry. Harry looks into the mirror and the mirror shows him the Sorcerer's Stone is in his pocket. Harry lies to Professor Quirrell about what he sees in the mirror and Professor Quirrell removes his headdress, revealing Voldemort's head living on the back of his skull. Professor Quirrell attacks Harry, but Harry manages to kill him when he notices that his touch wounds him and Harry causes Professor Quirrell to dissolve by touching him in the face. As Harry is holding the Sorcerer's Stone, Voldemort's spirit comes at him and Harry goes unconscious. Harry wakes up in the hospital to presents left to him by his admirers. Dumbledore tells Harry the Sorcerer's Stone has been destroyed. Dumbledore warns Harry that there are ways in which Voldemort may return. During the end of semester dinner, Gryffindor wins the house cup due to the actions of Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Neville. As Harry is leaving, Hagrid gives him a photo album with a photo of Harry as a baby with his parents.
During the events of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) played by Daniel Radcliffe
Harry is sitting in his bedroom looking at a photo album with a photo of himself as a baby and his parents, Lilly and James and his friends Ron and Hermione. Hedwig starts to screech and Harry tells her he can't let her out of her cage. Uncle Vernon calls for Harry and when he walks downstairs, Aunt Petunia, who is finishing a cake, tells Harry, Uncle Vernon is in the living room. Uncle Vernon, who is fixing Dudley's tie, tells Harry he better control Hedwig. When Harry asks if he can let Hedwig out of his cage, Uncle Vernon tells him no, because he is worried Hedwig will send a message to Harry's friends. Harry then tells him none of his friends have written to him all summer. Uncle Vernon warns Harry not to mess anything up when Mr Mason and Mrs Mason come to dinner. Harry walks back to his room and finds Dobby jumping on his bed. Dobby introduces himself and when Harry asks him to sit down, Dobby tells him he hasn't met many decent wizards that treated him as an equal and then punishes himself by hitting his head on Harry's furniture. Dobby warns Harry not to go back to Hogwarts due to a plot to make terrible things happen at the school. Dobby admits to Harry that he hid all of the mail his friends sent him and runs away from Harry downstairs. Dobby sees the cake Aunt Petunia made and uses magic to levitate it. Harry slowly follows the cake with his arms outstretched to try and grab it as it travels towards Mrs Mason. Dobby snaps his fingers and the cake falls on Mrs. Mason's head, covering her in cake.
Uncle Vernon puts bars around Harry's windows and tells him he will never go back to Hogwarts or see his friends. Harry hears a noise, and Ron, Fred and George drive up to his window in their Ford Anglia. They pull the bars off Harry's window and Harry escapes with them just before Uncle Vernon grabs for him. As they are driving away, Ron tells Harry Happy Birthday. They land at the Weasley farm and sneak in. Mrs Weasley comes down stairs and yells at the Weasley boys. Ginny runs downstairs and stares wide eyed at Harry and then runs away. Mr Weasley walks in and tells everyone of the nine raids he conducted and then meets Harry. Mr Weasley is asking Harry questions about non magic users when Errol flies into the window with a piece of mail. Percy takes the letter which includes all of the children's Hogwarts letters, including Harry's. They travel to Diagon Alley using Floo Powder. During Harry's turn he mumbles the name Diagon Alley and appears in Borgin & Burkes in Knockturn Alley. He hides as Draco and Lucius Malfoy enter the store and Lucius sells some of his things to Mr Borgin in case his house is raided by the Ministry of Magic. Harry walks out of the store and is asked by Aged Witch if he is lost. He is surrounded by other witches and wizards and Aged Witch tells Harry to come with her. Hagrid sees Harry and saves him from the others and tells Harry he was looking for Flesh Eating Slug Repellent. Hermione runs up to Harry and Hagrid and greets them and fixes Harry's glasses. They go into Flourish and Blotts where Gilderoy Lockhart is selling copies of his book Magical Me and pass by Girl in Bookstore. Hermione goes to her parents Mr Granger and Mrs Granger. Short Man - Daily Prophet takes a photo of Lockhart and when Lockhart recognizes Harry, Short Man - Daily Prophet grabs Harry and shoves him towards Lockhart who has his photo taken with Harry. Lockhart then uses Harry to help sell his books. Draco and Lucius walk up to Harry and Lucius grabs Harry and uses the end of his cane to part Harry's hair to reveal his scar. Lucius tells Harry his scar is legendary as is the wizard who gave it to him and Harry calls Voldemort a murderer. When Lucius comments on Harry using Voldemort's name, Hermione mentions fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself. Lucius insults Hermione and her parents and Ron and his siblings and grabs Ginny's second hand book and calls Mr Weasley a disgrace to wizards and puts Ginny's book back, plus another into her cauldron pail.
The Weasley's go to the train station and teleport through platform 9 3/4, except Ron and Harry, who are last. They try to teleport, but find the bricks solid and crash into them. Station Guard walks over and asks them what they are doing and they apologize. They decide to use the Ford Anglia to fly to Hogwarts and Harry has to remind Ron to turn on the invisibility booster. They are almost run over by the Hogwarts Express and crash land at Hogwarts into the Whomping Willow after Ron breaks his wand trying to get the Ford Anglia to stop. They are thrown out of the Ford Anglia which then drives off. Harry tells Ron about Dobby and Mr Filch, who is holding Mrs Norris, stops them and tells them that might be there last night in the castle and tells them they are in trouble. They are brought to Professor Snape's office where Professor Snape tells them they were seen by seven people flying in the Ford Anglia and they damaged the Whomping Willow. He threatens to kick them out and Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall walk in and Professor McGonagall gives Harry and Ron detention. The next day, Professor Sprout walks into class and tells the students they are going to be re-potting Mandrakes. She warns them that the Mandrake seedlings can cause those who hear their cry to faint and tells the class to put on their ear muffs. Neville falls down and Professor Sprout thinks he neglected his earmuffs, but Seamus tells her, Neville just fainted. Penelope Clearwater is walking with Percy when they greet Nearly Headless Nick. Ron tapes his wand back together and Colin Creevey snaps a photo of Harry. There is a screeching and Dean tells Ron, Errol is coming. Errol delivers a Howler message to Ron from Mrs Weasley who yells at Ron through the Howler.
In class, Lockhart introduces himself to the students as their new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher and Hermione and Susan swoon over him. He un-cages Cornish Pixies in class and they start to unleash havoc onto the class. He runs away after asking Hermione, Harry and Ron to capture the Pixies when the Pixies steal his wand. Hermione casts an Immobulus spell which causes Pixies to slowly float in the air. Oliver Wood tells the Gryffindor Quidditch team of Harry, Alicia Spinnet, Katie Bell, Angelina Johnson and Fred and George, he devised a new program. As they walk into the practice green, Marcus Flint tells them they were given the practice time to train their new Seeker, Draco. Ron walks up with Hermione and asks how the Slytherin team got the Nimbus 2001's and Marcus tells him Lucius bought them for the team. Draco comments to Ron that his father can afford the best and Hermione accuses Draco of buying himself onto the team, to which Draco calls her a Mudblood. Ron tries to cast an Eat Slugs spell on Draco with his broken wand, which backfires, causing Ron to vomit up snails and the Slytherin team including Adrian Pucey, Slyth Beater No 1, Slyth Beater No 2, Slyth Beater No 3 and Slyth Keeper laugh. Harry and Hermione take Ron to Hagrid's hut who asks why Ron tried to curse Draco. Hermione tells Hagrid, Draco called her Mudblood. For detention, Harry is forced to help sign Lockhart's fan mail. He thinks he hears a voice, which Lockhart doesn't hear. As Harry is walking back to the Gryffindor common room and he hears the voice again and runs into Hermione and Ron. They run to where the voice is coming from and see spiders running out of the castle. They then see blood splattered on the wall with the words "The chamber of Secrets has been opened enemies of the heir...beware". They find Mrs Norris hanging in the air and a crowd gathers around and Mr Filch threatens to kill Harry when he thinks it was him that hurt Mrs Norris. Dumbledore and the professors walk up and Dumbledore tells the students except for Harry, Ron and Hermione to return to their rooms. Professor Snape says it is suspicious how Harry was present at the time and Lockhart tells him, Harry was with him. Dumbledore then mentions Professor Sprout's Mandrakes and tells Mr Filch, Mrs Norris will be fine. As they are walking to the common room, Harry wonders if he should tell Dumbledore about the voice he heard and Hermione tells him hearing voices isn't a good thing and Count - Moving Picture agrees with Hermione.
Professor McGonagall teaches the class how to transform animals to water goblets, which Ron fails due to his broken wand. Hermione asks Professor McGonagall about the Chamber of Secrets and she tells them about the founding of Hogwarts and how Salazar Slytherin wanted magic to be taught only to pure blood magical families. He eventually built the Chamber of Secrets and sealed it until his future heir would come to reopen it to unleash the horror within that would then kill those born from muggles. Harry and Ron think Draco is heir of Slytherin, but Hermione doesn't think so. She tells them she might have a way to find out and they go to the library where she finds a book with directions to make a Polyjuice Potion, which allow the drinker to change into someone else. During a Quidditch Match, the Gryffindor team is overwhelmed by the Slytherin team with their faster broom sticks and Lee Jordan announces another point for Slytherin. During the game, Oliver has his broom broken by a rogue Bludger. The Bludger chases after Harry who sees the Snitch and chases after it with Draco behind him. Draco crashes and so does Harry, but he manages to grab the Snitch anyways. Hermione destroys the Bludger and Lockhart tries to fix Harry's arm, which was broken by the Bludger, but removes all of his bones in the process. Madam Pomfrey gives Harry a potion to regrow his arm bone. As he is laying in the hospital he hears the voice again and Dobby appears on his bed. He tells Harry it was him who stopped the barrier from letting Ron and him onto the Hogwarts Express and also made the Bludger chase after him. Dobby tells Harry he is treated poorly by his family and he can only be free if his master presents him with clothes. Dobby warns Harry, history is to repeat itself, but refuses to tell him more. Madam Pomfrey, Professor McGonagall and Dumbledore escort two other professors who bring Colin into the nurse's station on a stretcher in a petrified state. They take Colin's camera from his hands to look if he took a photo of his attacker, but the camera exhibits a poof of magic. Dumbledore tells Professor McGonagall the Chamber of Secrets has been opened again.
Harry tells Hermione and Ron about what he heard last night in the clinic. Hermione then introduces them to Moaning Myrtle who lives in the girl's restroom. Lockhart and Professor Snape introduce a Dueling Club so the students can practice defending themselves. Harry and Draco are pitted against each other and during the match, Draco creates a magic snake. The snake starts to slither towards Justin Finch-Fletchley and it appears that Harry is commanding the snake with Parseltongue. Professor Snape destroys the snake with a spell and Justin Finch-Fletchley angrily thinks Harry was sending the snake after him. Hermione tells Harry not many people have the gift of Parseltongue and Salazar Slytherin was a Paselmouth. Harry is shunned by his peers and Ernie MacMillan tells Hannah the Hufflepuff, Boy in Study Hall 1 and Boy in Study Hall 2, he told Justin Finch-Fletchley to hide in case Harry marked him as his next victim. As Harry is walking back to the common room, he hears the voice again repeating kill over and over and finds Nearly Headless Nick petrified next to a petrified Justin Finch-Fletchley. Mr Filch sees Harry standing over the body of Justin Finch-Fletchley and leaves to tell others. Harry again sees spiders running away as Professor McGonagall arrives and takes Harry to see Dumbledore. Harry walks into Dumbledore's office and sees Fawkes and The Sorting Hat. Harry asks The Sorting Hat if he was put in the right house and The Sorting Hat tells him he would have done well in Slytherin. Harry walks up to Fawkes who erupts in flames and falls to ashes. Dumbledore tells Harry phoenixes bursts into flames when they die, but are then reborn from the ashes. Hagrid barges into the room and tells Dumbledore, Harry is not the guilty one. Dumbledore tells Harry he doesn't believe it was him that opened the Chamber of Secrets.
Before Christmas break, Hermione sits down next to Ron and Harry and tells them the Polyjuice Potion is almost done, they just need hair from Crabbe and Goyle, and shows them cupcakes mixed with a Sleeping Draught. She tells them she took a hair from Millicent Bulstrode's robe. Crabbe and Goyle eat the magic cupcakes and fall unconscious. Harry and Ron return to Hermione and they all drink their potions. Ron and Harry leave without Hermione and head towards the Slytherin common room. Draco sees them being questioned in the hall by Percy and walks back with them to the Slytherin common room. They ask Draco about who might be the heir of Slytherin, but Draco doesn't know. He does tell them Lucius said the Chamber had been opened 50 years ago and a student expelled. The magic of the Polyjuice Potion starts to fade and Harry and Ron run back to the girl's restroom and find out Hermione accidentally took a car hair from Millicent's robes and now has a temporary cat face. Ron and Harry see the girl's restroom flooding and go inside. Moaning Myrtle tells them someone threw a book at her and Harry picks it up and takes it with him. On the back is the name Tom Marvolo Riddle and words appear when he writes his name and asks questions about the Chamber of Secrets. Harry is shown a vision from fifty years ago on the 13th of June. He sees Tom Riddle watching as a dead student is carried away in a stretcher. After speaking with Professor Dippet, Dumbledore tells Tom, Hogwarts is to be closed due to the death of the student and Tom asks Dumbledore if the person responsible was caught if the school could stay open. Tom confronts a Young Hagrid and tells him he is going to turn him in. Hagrid insists Aragog didn't kill anyone and Aragog runs away as Tom tries to destroy him. Tom then tells Hagrid he will lose his wand for what he did.
Harry tells Hermione and Ron that Hagrid opened the Chamber of Secrets, but they don't trust Tom's word. Neville runs up to Harry and then takes him back to Harry's room, which has been torn apart and his things strewn on the ground and Harry realizes the journal is missing. Before their game, Professor McGonagall tells the Gryffindor Quidditch team, their match has been cancelled. She and Harry go to get Ron and then she takes them to the clinic where Hermione is laying in bed, petrified. New rules are put in place at Hogwarts and Professor McGonagall tells the students if the culprit of the attacks is not caught, Hogwarts will be closed. Harry and Ron sneak to Hagrid's hut using the cloak of invisibility and knock on the door. Hagrid lets them in and as they ask Hagrid about the Chamber of Secrets there is a knock on the door. Ron and Harry get underneath the cloak and Hagrid lets Dumbledore and Cornelius Fudge come inside. Cornelius tells Hagrid that he will have to take Hagrid to Azkaban due to the attacks on the students. Lucius walks in and tells Dumbledore the governors have decide it is time for Dumbledore to step aside as Headmaster of Hogwarts. As Hagrid is leaving with Cornelius, he mentions to follow the spiders and someone will have to feed Fang. Harry, Ron and Fang follow a group of spiders into the Dark Forest. They come to a clearing surrounded by large trees and Aragog comes out of his hole in the ground. Aragog tells them Hagrid didn't open the Chamber of Secrets and the creature that killed the student is an ancient creature spiders fear. After telling them the student died in the girl's restroom, Aragog tells them his children need to feed and as they are surrounded, the Ford Anglia drives up and saves them. After the Ford Anglia makes it out of the Dark Forest, Harry, Ron and Fang get out and the Ford Anglia drives back into the forest. While Harry and Ron visit Hermione in the clinic, Harry finds a page from a library book stuck in her hand which talks about the Basilisk, which Harry realizes is in the Chamber of Secrets. He figures out no one has died, because everyone who has seen it saw it through a reflection or something else. They hear an announcement and sneak over to Professor McGonagall telling Professor Snape, Madam Pomfrey and Professor Flitwick, and Mr Filch, Ginny was taken to the Chamber of Secrets and all the students must be sent home.
Lockhart walks up and Professor McGonagall tasks him with finding Ginny. Ron and Harry run to tell Lockhart what they know and find him packing his belongings. He admits to them he stole all of his stories from others and tells them he is gifted with memory charms. They force Lockhart to come with them as they go to the girl's restroom and they ask Moaning Myrtle what she remembers before she died. Harry figures out how to open the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets and they go inside. They find the Basilisk's lair to be full of bones and tunnels. Lockhart acts like he has fainted and then steals Ron's wand. He casts an Obliviate spell against Harry, but it backfires due to Ron's wand being damaged. A large amount of rocks fall from the ceiling and Harry tells Ron to stay with Lockhart and to start to dig themselves out while he goes to save Ginny. Harry goes into the main chamber and finds Ginny lying on the ground unconscious. Tom Riddle walks up to Harry and tells him as Ginny grows weaker, he grows stronger and it was Ginny that opened the Chamber of Secrets and sent the Basilisk after the Muggle Borns. Tom Riddle then reveals himself to be the younger version of Voldemort. Fawkes flies into the Chamber and drops The Sorting Hat onto the ground. Tom Riddle calls the Basilisk to him and it starts to chase Harry. Fawkes flies and helps Harry by clawing out the Basilisk's eyes. Harry escapes from the Basilisk and the Sword of Gryffindor materializes inside The Sorting Hat. Harry grabs it and uses it to kill the Basilisk, but is wounded in the process.
As he is dying from the venom of the Basilisk, he takes the tooth that was impaled into his arm and stabs Tom Riddle's journal with it, destroying the manifestation of Tom Riddle and the journal. Ginny wakes up and Fawkes sheds a tear on Harry's wound, neutralizing the venom. Fawkes then flies all of them back to the surface. Dumbledore awards special awards to Ron and Harry and gives Ron papers to have Hagrid released from Azkaban. Harry tells Dumbledore he worries about the similarities between Tom and himself and Dumbledore tells him Voldemort transferred some of his powers to Harry when he tried to kill him. Lucius walks into the room with Dobby and is upset to see Dumbledore back at Hogwarts. Dumbledore shows Lucius the journal that was used to entrance Ginny and Dobby motions at Lucius to Harry. As Lucius is leaving, Harry hands him the journal and accuses Lucius of sticking it in Ginny's pail at the bookstore. Lucius hands Dobby the journal and tells Harry to prove his accusation. Harry tells Dobby to open the journal and Dobby finds one of Harry's socks inside of it. Dobby becomes free due to Lucius presenting Dobby with clothes and as Lucius is about to attack Harry with a spell, Dobby defends Harry and Lucius threatens Harry. Those who were petrified recover, including Hermione, who is welcomed back by Ron and Harry. Before the end of the year feast, Dumbledore asks for a round of applause for Professor Sprout and Madam Pomfrey and all of the students and professors clap, including Madam Pince. Hagrid returns and personally thanks Harry, Ron and Hermione and everyone gives Hagrid a round of applause.

After Uncle Vernon leaves, Harry successfully casts the lumos maxima spell, causing the entire room to glow brightly. The next day, Harry opens the door for Aunt Marge and Uncle Vernon. Aunt Marge walks in and hands her dog off to Aunt Petunia. Harry asks Uncle Vernon to sign a school paper, but Uncle Vernon tells him maybe if he behaves he will sign it. Aunt Marge gets upset with the way Harry talks to her and calls him ungrateful. During dinner, Aunt Marge sees Harry staring at her and she asks him if the school he goes to canes him for misbehavior, she asks Aunt Petunia about Harry's parents and calls James a drunk. Harry angrily denies it and the glass in Aunt Marge's hand shatters. Aunt Marge then says it wasn't James' fault for how Harry turned out and says "if there is something wrong with the bitch, then there's something wrong with the pup". Harry yells at her to shut up and suddenly Aunt Marge starts to expand to great proportions. She floats into the air and eventually floats out of the house. Harry runs to his room and looks at the moving photo of James and Lily. Uncle Vernon tells Harry to fix Aunt Marge, but he refuses and leaves with a trunk full of luggage.
Harry sits down on the edge of a sidewalk and sees a black dog. A bus pulls up and Stan Shunpike tells Harry about the Knight Bus for stranded wizards and witches. Harry gets on board and Ernie The Bus Driver starts the bus again. As they are driving, Shrunken Head gives out commentary and warns of incoming obstructions. Harry sees Stan reading a newspaper with the headline about an escaped prisoner from Azkaban and Stan tells him the escapee is Sirius Black. The bus pulls up at the Leaky Cauldron and Tom The Innkeeper helps Harry with his luggage. As Harry enters the Leaky Cauldron he passes Man Reading Book. Tom takes Harry to Room 11 where Hedwig is already inside. Cornelius Fudge tells Harry a team from the Accidental Magic Reversal Department was forced to reverse what he did to Aunt Marge. He then tells Harry that no harm was done and he will be heading to Hogwarts in the morning. Harry opens one of his new school books, The Monster Book of Monsters and it tries to bite him. As Harry leaves his room, a Young Witch Maid walks by. Ron warns Hermione to keep Crookshanks away from Scabbers. The rest of the Weasley family comes into the main room and Mrs Weasley asks Harry if he has everything he needs. Mr Weasley tells Harry he is in danger and how Sirius is a servant of Voldemort. He tells Harry, Sirius' plan is to hunt down and kill Harry.
Harry tells Ron and Hermione about what happened concerning Aunt Marge. They go into a train car where Professor Lupin is already inside, asleep. As the train is traveling to Hogwarts, the train comes to a stop and the lights go out. Ron sees something moving outside and a group of Dementors come on board. One of them opens the door to their train car and starts to suck the joy from Harry's spirit. Lupin gets up and casts a spell, forcing the Dementor to retreat. Lupin tells Harry the Dementors were looking for Sirius. They arrive at school where Professor Flitwick leads the choir in a rendition of Double Double Toil and Trouble from Macbeth. In Divination class, Professor Sybil Trelawney tells them they will be learning Tasseomancy or the art of reading tea leaves. Lavender Brown and Parvati Patel both stare into the sky as she dramatically says they will be seeing into the beyond. She asks Neville if his grandmother is okay and then asks Ron if he is a spirit. She takes Harry's cup and tells him he has the Grim. Boy 1 reads to the class that the Grim is one of the darkest omens. After class Hermione tells Harry and Ron she doesn't believe in divinations and thinks Ancient Runes is a better course and Ron remarks that both of the courses happen at the same time. Hagrid takes the class to the woods and while they are walking Draco, who is standing next to Goyle and Crabbe, says that he is going to complain to Lucius Malfoy that they allowed Hagrid to teach. Draco then makes fun of Harry and his encounter with the Dementors and the other Slytherin play along including Pansy Parkinson and Slytherin Boy. Hagrid introduces the students to Buckbeak as they stare in wonder, including Girl 1 and Boy 2. Harry is chosen to be the first student to interact with Buckbeak and Harry manages to make friends with Buckbeak and Buckbeak lets Harry ride on him. Buckbeak lands back on the ground and Draco arrogantly pushes the other students out of the way and walks up to Buckbeak, who attacks him and Hagrid is forced to take Draco to the hospital.
During study hall, Seamus runs in with a newspaper that says Sirius has been sighted in Dufftown and Boy 1 worries Sirius might be nearby. Lupin shows the class a wardrobe with a Boggart inside of it. He teaches them, a way to repel a Boggart is to cast the spell Riddikulus along with laughter. The students, including Girl 2 then practice chanting the spell. Neville is chosen to go first, and then the class continues with Ron going next, followed by Parvati Patel and then Harry. When it is Harry's turn, the Boggart turns into a Dementor and Lupin is forced to return the Boggart to the wardrobe. The students take a trip to Hogsmeade Village and Professor McGonagall tells Harry he will have to stay behind since he doesn't have a signed form. Harry talks with Lupin about the Boggart and what happened on the train and Lupin tells Harry about James and Lily. Later, the Fat Lady disappears from the common room portrait. Dumbledore arrives with Mr Filch, who is holding Mrs Norris, and Dumbledore tells Mr Filch to round up the ghosts to search for the Fat Lady. Mr Filch spots the Fat Lady and she tells them Sirius is in the castle. In Protection Against the Dark Arts class, Professor Snape substitutes for Lupin and teaches the students about werewolves and Animagus. The next day at the Quidditch match, while Harry is chasing the snitch, he is attacked by Dementors and loses consciousness and begins to plummet to the ground. Dumbledore stops his fall and Harry wakes up in the clinic and Harry shows him his broken broomstick.
Harry talks to Lupin again and Lupin explains why the Dementors target him more than others. Lupin then agrees to teach him a spell to combat the Dementors. Fred and George see footprints in the snow and catch Harry trying to sneak around. They grab him and Fred hands Harry a piece of parchment and George casts a spell revealing the parchment to be the Marauder's Map which shows everyone moving within Hogwarts. Harry sneaks into Honeyduke and then out into Hogsmeade Village. Draco, Crabbe and Slytherin Boy confront Ron and Hermione, who are looking at the Shrieking Shack and after Draco calls Hermione a mudblood, he is hit with a snowball. Hermione, Harry and Ron go to ask Hagrid how the inquiry into Buckbeak's attack on Draco went and he tells them that Buckbeak has been sentenced to death. While looking at the Marauder's Map during the night, Harry notices the name Peter Pettigrew walking in Hogwarts. He goes to try and find Peter and Old Man in Portrait tells him to put out his wand light. Peter somehow walks past Harry without Harry seeing him and Snape catches him, but not before Harry manages to change the map back to a simple parchment. Lupin walks up and takes the map. The Old Man in Portrait then yells at Snape to turn off his wand light. Lupin chastises Harry for not handing the map over and before leaving Harry tells Lupin he saw Peter's name on the map. During Divination class, Trelawney tells Hermione she knew from the start that she wouldn't have the ability for divination and tells her that her heart and soul are dry and shriveled and Hermione knocks the crystal ball to the ground and storms out of class. When Harry goes to return the crystal ball after class, Trelawney, who is in a trance, tells Harry, Sirius will return that night.
On the day of the execution, Ron, Hermione and Harry see The Executioner sharpening his axe. They see Draco, Crabbe and Slytherin Boy standing on a hill overlooking the execution site and Hermione threatens Draco with her wand before punching him in the face. They go to Hagrid's shack and Hermione offers to stay with him during the execution. Hagrid then gives Ron, Scabbers, which he found. Suddenly rocks are thrown into the shack and Harry sees Dumbledore, Fudge and The Executioner walking up. They run up the hill Draco was at and watch as The Executioner swings his axe to the ground. Scabbers bites Ron and runs away and Ron, Harry and Hermione chase after him. The black dog appears and charges at Ron and drags him under the roots of the Whomping Willow. The Whomping Willow attacks Harry and Hermione and they are thrown into a tunnel under the roots which leads to the Shrieking Shack. They follow Ron's screams and find Ron in a room with Sirius. Harry threatens to kill Sirius, but is disarmed when Lupin bursts into the room. Lupin and Sirius hug and Hermione thinks Lupin has betrayed Harry. Hermione tells Lupin she knows he is a werewolf. Lupin tells Harry it wasn't Sirius that betrayed Lily and James, but Peter. Snape runs into the room and disarms Sirius. Harry uses his wand to knock Snape unconscious. Scabbers tries to run away and is transformed back into Peter and is caught. As Sirius and Lupin are about to kill Peter, Harry stops them and says Peter needs to be taken to the castle and given to the authorities.
They all exit the cavern under the Whomping Willow and Sirius tells Harry he will be happy to be a free man again. Sirius offers to have Harry live with him and Hermione yells out when the full moon starts to peak over the horizon. Lupin starts to change into a werewolf and Peter manages to escape. Sirius yells at Harry, Ron and Hermione to run. Snape walks out of the tunnel and is swiped at by Lupin who has completely transformed. Sirius and Lupin fight and Harry throws a rock at Lupin distracting him. Something from far away howls and Lupin runs towards the howl. Sirius crawls away and Harry finds him wounded near a lake. The air starts to get colder and a group of Dementors circle above. They start to attack Sirius and Harry casts the Patronus Charm and is then attacked by the Dementors. As Sirius' soul is about to be taken, a glowing stag appears and forces the Dementors to retreat. The stag disappears and Harry collapses next to Sirius. Harry wakes up in the clinic and Hermione tells him Sirius was captured and the Dementors are about to suck out his soul. Dumbledore walks into the clinic and Hermione and Ron tell him that Sirius is innocent. Dumbledore tells Hermione and Harry where Sirius is being held and gives hints to Hermione on how to save two lives.
Hermione pulls out a necklace and places part of it around Harry's neck and turns her Timer-Turner three times. She and Harry go back in time to 7:30 that same day and she explains to Harry what the Time-Turner is. They run down towards Hagrid's hut and hide near the woods. Hermione starts to throw rocks like the ones that appeared out of nowhere before. Harry frees Buckbeak and when Cornelius Fudge finds Buckbeak missing, The Executioner chops a pumpkin in anger. They watch as Lupin and then Snape walk into the tunnel under the Whomping Willow. Harry tells Hermione it was James who cast the Patronus Charm. As Lupin is about to attack normal timeline Harry, Hermione howls like a wolf and Lupin chases after her and Harry. As Lupin is about to attack them, Buckbeak saves them and Lupin runs off. They watch as normal timeline Harry and Sirius are about to be killed by the Dementors and Harry casts the Patronus Charm. Harry and Hermione ride Buckbeak to the Dark Tower and free Sirius from prison. Before leaving, Sirius tells Harry he looks like James, but with Lily's eyes and tells Hermione she is the smartest witch of her age. He then flies away on Buckbeak. Harry walks into Lupin's office and Lupin tells him he saw him coming and points at the Marauder's Map. Lupin tells Harry he has resigned as a teacher due to someone telling others that Lupin is a werewolf. Lupin returns the Marauder's Map to Harry and then leaves. Harry walks into the main hall and finds the Gryffindor class surrounding a package on the table. Harry opens it up revealing it to be a Firebolt broomstick and the other students gasp in amazement including Angelina Johnson. Harry frees Ron and notices Fleur hasn't freed Gabrielle yet and frees her while the Merpeople are distracted. As he is carrying Ron and Gabrielle to the surface, he is attacked by the Grindylows. He uses magic to escape from the Grindylows and wins second place. As Barty Crouch is congratulating Harry, Moody walks up. Later, Harry finds Barty dead in the woods. Harry goes to Dumbledore's office to speak to him and while he is waiting he grabs some Licorice Snaps, and one bites him. Harry looks into Dumbledore's Pensieve and witnesses the memory of Karkaroff's trial. Karkaroff starts to give names of his fellow Death Eaters and the Assistant Judge hands Barty notes on the people being named. Harry is transferred back to the maze location and Dumbledore notices something is wrong. Harry yells that Voldemort is back and Moody pulls Harry away while Amos cries over Cedric's body. Moody asks Harry how it felt to stand in front of Voldemort. Moody starts to transform and as he is about to kill Harry, Dumbledore bursts into the room and stuns Moody with magic. Snape pours a potion into Moody's mouth. Dumbledore, Snape and McGonagall find the real Moody locked in a chest and the fake Moody fully transforms back to Barty Crouch Junior.
