Background

Old Man is a resident of New York City. He overhead the repeated beatings of Gina and Carly by Walter and their eventual deaths, but did nothing.

During the events of The Echo (2008) played by Aron Tager

Bobby Reynolds goes to the window of his apartment and he sees the shadow of a person looking towards his apartment. Later, Bobby goes back to the manager's office and Old Man, who is playing chess by himself, tells him that it is supper time and MMax won't answer the door. Alyssa goes to see Bobby and sees the neighbor across the way staring at her through the window. Bobby bangs on the door of the Old Man that has been watching him and the Old Man tells the story of how Walter beat Gina and Carly to death and then shot himself in the head. Bobby tells the Old Man that he and the other neighbors are partly responsible for their deaths for not doing anything.
