Detailed Synopsis

An Appraiser has black pearls sold by Wealthy Merchant appraised for Max. Anne Bonny walks up to Max and tells her that the rumor is Wealthy Merchant cheated his partner. The appraiser tells Max and the Wealthy Merchant that 316 black pearls will be exchanged for 46,121 pieces of eight. The Wealthy Merchant disparages Max's ethnic background and tells her about the new governor arriving in Nassau. Max tells Rackham, Captain Charles Vane and Featherstone about the incoming fleet and when they are expected to arrive. Rackham comes up with an idea to protect the bay with various crews including those belonging to Burgess, Woodall and the Cockrams. He continues that if they present a large show of force, the British may turn around and leave. Woodes Rogers tells Eleanor Guthrie that he spoke with Captain Chamberlain and they now know when they will arrive on Nassau. He shows her a speech he wrote in which he will offer pardons to the inhabitants of Nassau. He asks her to help him with any modifications she may have to get the most people on their side. He admits to Eleanor that time is of the essence and that he told Spain, who is one of his investors, that he would return the Urca gold to them.

During the 12th day in the Doldrums, Apocalyptic Crewman starts to speak out loud how he and the crew of The Walrus are all dead men. Captain Flint tells Billy Bones and John Silver that it will take more than seven to ten days to reach a nearby island and they will have to cut the crews' rations again. He then comes up with the idea to feed certain members of the crew, who are deemed to be of more importance, and not the others. Silver starts to argue with Flint, but Billy stops him. Captain Throckmorton and some other captains argue with Rackham about his plan to do a show of force when the English fleet arrives. Jacob Garrett says they need to have a plan if the bluff works and Vane gets upset with all the complaining. Rackham assure the captains that Flint will return and reminds them that they were given gold coins in assurance that they would defend Nassau. Blackbeard walks into the room and says that Flint was killed while being chased by Captain Benjamin Hornigold. He then offers himself to lead the pirate fleet to Vane if after the English are repelled, Vane leaves with him. Blackbeard tells Vane that Nassau is a burden to Vane and that no one in the other room would help Vane, and yet Vane is willing to die for them. Blackbeard tells Vane that he has no sons and so wants Vane to be his surrogate son. Rackham figures out that Vane plans on leaving with Blackbeard and tells Anne.

On day 18 on The Walrus, Dooley pulls up a basket full of eels from the ocean. Billy tells Silver that he needs to accept his water ration and that he will need his strength when Silver finally confronts Flint. Silver tells Billy that Flint has a need for others to see him as the hero and being seen as the villain is torture to him. Palmer and Oates are accused of stealing rations. Silver holds a trial to figure out which one of them stole the rations. Oates insists he would never steal from the crew. Palmer says that during everything that has happened, he has never complained. Flint walks up and shoots Palmer in the head and then starts to reload his gun. Billy tells Silver to do something, but Silver does nothing. As Flint raises his gun to Oates head, Miranda Barlow's image appears instead of Oates. She asks for forgiveness and Flint shoots Oates in the head. Flint walks back to his cabin and starts to cry. Max and Anne hide some more valuables and Max tells Anne that soon they will need to go their separate ways. Anne asks Max why Max won't come with her, and Max tells her how she would watch her white father as he took care of his white daughter while Max lived in the slave quarters. Max tells her that she craves peace which she cannot have running away with Anne. Billy tells Silver that if Flint tries to kill another innocent member of the crew, he is going to do something about it.

On day 21, Flint has a daydream where he is back in England and tells Miranda that when he lost Thomas Hamilton he was enraged, but when he lost Miranda, he became ruined. She tells him that she took care of him like a mother and she loves him like no other. Her image tells him that she will guide him, but then must leave him. As Flint is staring along the ship he again sees the image of Death. Billy tells Flint that they spotted a whale carcass. De Groot says that whale's float after they rot, but Silver insists they go after it and tells Flint he is coming also. Silver and Flint row out to the whale carcass and while they are rowing, Silver admits to Flint that he stole the Urca gold from Flint and tells Flint that he must decide if they will be partners or enemies. They get to the carcass and find it to be too rotten, but find it surrounded by sharks feasting on the carcass. Flint harpoons a shark and they drag it onto the boat. They bring the shark back to the ship and feed the crew with it. Rogers and his fleet arrive at Nassau and Chamberlain tells him that there are ships in a line at the harbor. Breathless Scout tells Blackbeard that the English ships have arrived. During a meeting, Chamberlain suggests they can not take Nassau without incurring significant naval losses. Rogers says that he will go to offer the pardons and Eleanor suggests Hornigold give the offer of pardons. Hornigold and Dufresne take a boat to Nassau. Ellers asks Blackbeard why they are letting Hornigold inside Nassau and Blackbeard tells him if they shot upon Hornigold, half of Nassau would be at war with the other half. Hornigold gives the speech written by Rogers offering pardons to the pirates. He then continues that their is a bounty placed on Vane for 10,000 pounds. Throckmorton then walks up to Hornigold to receive his pardon as do other pirates. After the wind returns, the crew of The Walrus arrive at an island and go ashore and are spotted by an islander.
