"Scabbers" is the rat familiar of Ron Weasley.
During the events of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)
Ron introduces Harry Potter to Scabbers and before he is about to show Harry a spell, Hermione Granger asks them if they have seen Neville Longbottom's toad, Trevor. After Ron fails at a spell to transform Scabbers, Hermione uses a spell to fix Harry's broken glasses.
During the events of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)
Professor McGonagall teaches the class how to transform animals to water goblets, which Ron fails due to his broken wand and turns Scabbers into a hairy goblet.
