Prince Vultan

Background

Prince Vultan is the leader of the Hawkpeople. He has a daughter.

During the events of Flash Gordon (1980) played by Brian Blessed

Prince Vultan and the Hawkmen arrive to give tribute to The Emperor Ming. He is about to offer the ice jewel to Ming when he is accused by Prince Barin of stealing it. Vultan and Barin almost begin to duel when Klytus orders them to stop, and when Vultan tries to continue the duel, Klytus threatens Vultan's daughter if he continues. Vultan is at his palace when Luro tells him that Brave Blue has brought some visitors. Dale Arden and Dr. Hans Zarkov try to convince Vultan to fight against Ming, but he refuses. Flash Gordon and Barin are brought to his palace and Vultan allows Barin to exercise his right to a personal duel against Flash. After Flash kills Klytus, Vultan tells his people to flee in order to avoid the wrath of Ming and he and the others go to Arboria. When Flash escapes, he and Vultan agree to attack Ming's forces. Vultan and his Hawkmen lay a trap for the Rocket Ajax, which Vultan, Flash and his Hawkmen hijack. He participates in the attack on Mongo and once Ming is killed by Flash, Prince Vultan is then made the general of the imperial armies.
