In London in 1705, a younger [[Captain Flint]] meets Thomas who tells him the history of the pirate issue in Nassau.  He says that he has a plan to rid Nassau of the pirates and worries that Flint might be more interested in rising in his career than in accomplishing the goal.  Flint takes Thomas to a pirate hanging and tells him that the difficulty in changing the world is fighting against everyone else who want the status quo.
