Detailed Synopsis
The Royal Lion continues to chase The Walrus. Captain Flint tells Rackham and Anne Bonny that they are not far from the Maroon island. He continues that Captain Benjamin Hornigold is not that far behind them, but John Silver has come up with a plan that might help them make it to shore. Rackham tells Flint that everyone's sacrifices are dependent on the contents of the chest with the cache. Dooley tells Flint that it is time and Flint leaves the room. Eleanor Guthrie walks into Captain Charles Vane's cell and makes an offer to sign a confession which will allow him to be executed privately instead of through a public trial. He tells her that he knows the only thing she cares about is revenge for Richard Guthrie. Vane calls Richard a cowardly shit who cared nothing for Eleanor. As Eleanor is leaving, Vane tells her that Richard offered to give her up if Vane spared her and Eleanor starts to beat Vane and then calls Vane an unformed human. Woodes Rogers has a meeting with his senior counselors and Dr. Marcus tells Eleanor that he has confined Rogers to bed after Rogers collapsed. Mr. Soames asks Rogers how long they should wait for Hornigold to return with word that he has regained the cache. Rogers tells his counsel that if Hornigold fails to recover the cache they will try again and that until he is well, Eleanor is to be given what messages they want to pass to him. Rogers notices Eleanor's bruised knuckle and figures out she saw Vane.
Leadsman calls out the surface depths to Dooley who then repeats it to De Groot. The Leadsman continues to yell out depths and De Groot tells Flint that both anchors are ready. Hornigold wonders aloud to Hornigold's Boatswain why Flint isn't slowing The Walrus down. Flint tells Mr. Williamson to hard to port and to drop the anchors and The Walrus turns to face the Royal Lion. Hornigold tells Hornigold's Boatswain to turn around so they can come at a different angle, and then notices the large number of Maroons along the beach. Featherstone and Idelle ride to Miranda Barlow's house where Billy Bones is writing anti-British rule propaganda, while Ben Gunn sits nearby. Billy tells them his plan of rescuing Vane. Featherstone says they don't have time as Vane is being shipped to England tomorrow, but Billy tells him his plan of buying time by trying to force the authorities to try Vane in Nassau. Eleanor tells Mrs. Hudson that from now until Rogers gets better, only Eleanor and Dr. Marcus may see Rogers and Hudson is to attend Rogers.
The crew of The Walrus and the Maroons unload the supplies and The Maroon Queen hugs Madi and asks Flint how much time they have before Hornigold attacks. She notices Chidi appears to have been beaten and asks Madi about it. After The Maroon Queen and Madi leave, Silver admits to Flint that Dobbs assaulted Chidi and then Silver had Dooley and Wayne beat Dobbs. Madi goes to speak with Mr. Scott and tells him that Eleanor is in Nassau. She tells him that she believes it will be like a civil war for him, with daughters on both sides, but he tells her that only Madi is his daughter. Mrs. Mapleton tells Max that Idelle is the spy and tells Max she hasn't told anyone else. Max asks her why she didn't tell Eleanor and Mapleton tells her that Eleanor is the type of person that will always create new enemies. In the market area, Jacob Garrett reminds the locals of the time Vane helped them out and that Eleanor is the source of their problems. Eleanor goes to see Max and Max tells her of the growing group of people in the market and that they may try to prevent Vane being put on any ship. Eleanor says they can't hold a trial on Nassau as it could take weeks, while Max advises her to not take the easy way out.
Eleanor goes to see Rogers, who is still delirious, and tells him that what she is about to do is only to protect him. Flint tells Silver that the real reason he had Dobbs punished was because the darkness took over him and that he must learn to control the darkness. Kofi blows a horn marking the death of Mr. Scott and Silver goes to check on Madi. Featherstone hurries back to Miranda's house and tells Billy that Vane is to be executed in the morning. Max tells Eleanor that the locals accepted the new authority, because they believed laws would be adhered to and that Vane's quick trial and execution appear counter to that. She warns Eleanor that Vane's execution may lead to chaos, but Eleanor assures her that the decision was not made hastily. Pastor Lambrick visits Vane in his cell and asks him if he would like to repent his sins, which Vane refuses. Before Vane's execution, the Court Official tells the crowd that Rogers promised them order and prosperity. Billy has Jacob position his men in order to try and rescue Vane.
The Court Official calls Vane an animal and an impediment to prosperity. As Billy is about to have Jacob try and start a riot, Vane shakes his head at Billy. The Court Official asks if Vane has any last words. Vane tells the crowd that the authorities fear not just him but the locals as Vane represents a freedom that still may exist in them. A noose is put around Vane's neck and the cart he is standing on is ridden away. Although Vane's neck snaps, he continues to spasm and Billy has Jacob and his men pull on Vane's body to end Vane's suffering. During Mr. Scott's funeral, Rackham tells Flint that he would like to captain The Walrus while Flint leads the defense of the island. Captain Chamberlain along with Lieutenant Perkins tells Eleanor that he notices that there are more ships beyond his own that are preparing to leave to fight the Maroons. She tells him that Hornigold will be going with him along with men belonging to Captain Throckmorton. Ellers tells Blackbeard that Vane was hanged by the Nassau authorities and asks him how he wants to respond.
