Aunt Em

Background

Aunt Em lives near Black River Falls in Kansas. Her husband is Uncle Henry and her niece is Dorothy.

During the events of Return to OZ (1985) played by Piper Laurie

Aunt Em checks up on Dorothy at one in the morning and still finds her awake. She walks out of her room and Uncle Henry tells her he doesn't think they should spend the money to send Dorothy to get help for her insomnia. They then argue about the cost of the procedure. The next day, Dorothy runs up to Aunt Em and tells her that her friends sent her a key from OZ. Aunt Em tells reminds her what they discussed and and how Dorothy hasn't been much help to her in the mornings due to her lack of sleeping. Later, Aunt Em takes Dorothy to see Dr. Worley. He explains to Aunt Em how his machine works and before leaving Dorothy with Nurse Wilson, Aunt Em gives Dorothy a lunch pail. After the storm, Aunt Em finds and hugs Dorothy and tells her Dr. Worley died when lightening struck his sanitarium and he tried to save his equipment.
